EdTech startup, Service Club pivots to provide training & jobs for the delivery sector & wins the “Top Business Solution Award for the Covid Era”

Press Release, Barcelona, 20 July 2020

Spanish training and recruitment platform company, Service Club, saw a gap in the market and used the lockdown to fully adapt their existing technology to the needs of the delivery industry globally. Their quick pivot got the attention of SantanderX Tomorrow Challenge and won them the Top Business Solution Award for the New Covid World in the “Rework” category. There were a total of 2252 start-ups from 35 countries who entered the competition.

EdTech startup, Service Club pivots to provide training & jobs for the delivery sector & wins the "Top Business Solution Award for the Covid Era" - 1595265334319The Service Club proprietary technology platform uses advanced algorithms to filter and rate job seekers, according to their experience and job fit, but also, crucially their commitment to upskilling through taking the microlearning training modules. Small chunks of fun, addictive, game-like training not only teaches delivery people how to be the best in what they do but also how to be safe in traffic or even in the face of a pandemic. Trained and certified couriers are then matched with local delivery jobs.

Founder and CEO of Service Club, Zeynep Demirbilek commented on the ‘Aha moment’:

“Delivery people are essential workers now. When the elderly and the sick couldn’t go to the grocery stores, it was the delivery couriers that took the stores to them. They delivered anything from vital medication to the sick through to board games to the bored. DeliverooUbereatsJust EatGlovo riders, with each pedal turn, kept the world moving. AmazonHermes and a long list of supermarket drivers minimised the hit the global economy will undoubtedly get from this”.

With the global pandemic fast-forwarding customer take-up of online services exponentially, companies are struggling to fulfil the demand for delivery staff. Service Club not only provides the talent sourcing solution but offers significant cost reductions in the recruitment cycle through filtered lead generation, an 80% increase in successful onboarding and a 50% improvement in the retention and lifetime value of a delivery driver.

Following their win, Zeynep Demirbilek further said:

“As delivery services are here to stay during and after Covid; the volume and quality of delivery people have to improve urgently. With the poor retention rate and high acquisition cost of couriers, delivery apps of today are far from achieving this. We will help them as a 3rd party solution, taking over training and filtering of couriers from them. Together, we will build a new generation of couriers, certified by Service Club Delivery.”

The company launched its new solution last month in Spain and in the UK at the same time. They report that the response has been overwhelming with a thousand couriers registering on the first day and over 5000 courier training modules completed since then.
